Our favorite event of the year is coming this fall! We invite you to drink well and do good by supporting the Glancy Wine Education Foundation at San Francisco Wine School's 12-Year Anniversary Celebration the evening of Saturday, November 11, 2023, hosted by co-owners, Master Sommelier David Glancy and Kristin Campbell.
This year, the Somm Olympic Wine Theory and Service Competitions return in hybrid format, so you can join in-person or online with a tasting kit. But attend in real life if you can! A Global Wine Tasting Reception with an Olympic Food Pairing Competition will be available to in-person guests only! The silent auction is also back, full of unique wines and experiences you won't find anywhere else!
2023 Somm Olympics & Competitors
Our Somm Olympics are all about celebrating the natural-born talent and hard-earned skills of the best and brightest sommeliers in our community. This year we're joined by Cara Patricia, Co-Founder of DecantSF, and Tonya Pitts, Wine Director of San Francisco's One Market Restaurant and Wine Enthusiast's 2022 Winner of Wine Director of the Year! The competition will take place throughout the evening and includes our signature events:
Global Wine Theory Jeopardy - VIP & online ticket holders only
Blind Tasting Skills Challenge - VIP & online ticket holders only
Riedel Serpentine Decanter Race - VIP & online ticket holders only
Sparkling Wine Relay - VIP ticket holders only
Food Pairing Taste Off - VIP & tasting bazaar ticket holders only
Global Wine Tasting Bazaar
Delight in one of San Francisco Wine School’s ever-popular Wine Bazaars - something we haven't seen since our pre-covid days! Meander with glass in hand and taste a wide array of exquisite global wines, sample the delicious creations of our Resident Chef, Cynthia Bloebaum, and keep an eye on your lots during the silent auction. Make sure to stop by our two Food Pairing Stations, each hosted by one of the evening’s competitors, and cast your vote for the best pairings! Select wines tasted at the event will be available to purchase and take home.
Silent Online Auction
Our silent auction is also back and full of unique wines and experiences you won't find anywhere else! The auction will be available online and open to the public with or without a ticket for the event. Online Bidding will begin 10 days before the main event closes in the final hour. Get notified when the auction is live.

4:00 PM Online Ticket Holders join VIP Ticket holders for the first 3 seated Olympic events
5:30 PM Hybrid event concludes & VIP Ticket holders kick off early access to the Global Wine Bazaar with the 4th Olympic event
6:00 PM Tasting Bazaar Only Ticket Holders arrive for walk-around reception with the final Olympic event
7:30 PM Silent Auction Closes
