Our Mission
Provide underserved and BIPOC communities with funding to further their professional wine educations, raise their earning power, and increase industry diversity.
1 in 4 people unemployed during the pandemic works in the restaurant industry.
97% of scholarship applicants earn less than a Living Wage.
Established in 2016, the Glancy Wine Education Foundation believes that every motivated and engaged student should have access to a high quality, professional education in his or her trade. Sadly, many jobs in hospitality and the wine industry pay well below equivalent positions in other industries and those truly passionate about their field cannot afford the education they need to begin or advance their career.
This is especially true for minorities, who continue to face significant social and financial obstacles to success and representation in the wine industry.
On the heels of a groundbreaking $100,000 donation from the Wine Spectator Foundation that will help more than 40 prospective students, we are seeking to establish relationships with additional corporate and private donors on a one-time or annual basis to fund our scholarships.
We are seeing an unprecedented level of need by professionals in the Bay Area and around the world as they seek to bolster their wine knowledge during a period of unemployment and hardship. Thankfully, online offerings have made wine education even more accessible during this time, allowing us to serve the needs of deserving students globally.
We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, run by an entirely volunteer board. Your donation is entirely tax deductible, and nearly every cent goes towards helping those in need.
