Board of Directors

The Glancy Wine Education Foundation is overseen and managed by its Board of Directors. Board members work on a volunteer basis without compensation.

Ana Keller, President

Ana is a firm believer in collaboration, hard work, and friendship. At the helm of her family’s winery since 1998, she focuses on growing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah representing her family’s estate terroir. Ana’s previous non-profit endeavors include participating with the Petaluma Gap Grapegrowers Alliance to establish the Petaluma Gap AVA and serving on the Sonoma County Vintners board.

Alder Yarrow, Vice President

Alder is a journalist and wine critic. He runs the website Vinography.Com and writes for Jancis Robinson and various other publications. He also serves as a judge for the World of Fine Wine’s annual Wine List Awards, is a contributor to the Oxford Companion to Wine, and was a restaurant judge for the James Beard Awards for many years.

Martin Redmond, Treasurer

Martin is a highly skilled finance professional, with a background in public accounting and corporate finance. He is currently exploring consulting opportunities while on a sabbatical. When not working or volunteering he enjoys writing about wine, traveling, cycling and hiking.

Kimberly Charles, Secretary, Marketing Chair

Kimberly Charles is the President and Founder of Charles Communication Associates in San Francisco, which is in its 19th year as one of the wine industry’s leading PR firms. Deeply dedicated to charitable causes, she has served on the board of the Society of Wine Educators, the River Network, Les Dames d'Escoffier, and Dress for Success, among others.

Janie Woo, Scholarship Chair

Janie is the co-owner of Tobias Glen Vineyard and brings a wealth of experience from her diverse background in luxury hotel management and consulting. With a comprehensive education in Hotel and Restaurant Management in the US and Switzerland Janie honed her dedication to delivering exceptional hospitality services during her management tenure at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Later, as a consultant, Janie oversaw a portfolio of ultra-luxury hotels spanning six continents. With a passion for travel that has taken her to 101 countries, Janie possesses a global perspective and an understanding of the rich tapestry of cultures, both of which inform her commitment to excellence and her dedication to giving back to her community and the industry.

Oceano Ordóñez

Oceano is a sommelier currently stewarding the wine program at the Michelin-starred SPQR Restaurant in San Francisco. He is also a former scholarship recipient from the Glancy Wine Education Foundation. The early part of his career was spent as a marketing strategist and account manager at creative agencies, but in 2014 he moved into the wine industry and began his wine education. In addition to being a sommelier, Oceano recently launched his own luxury wine brand Ouroboros Wines, and continues to consult as a marketing and operations professional. He holds the WSET 3 certification with distinction.

Andrea Smalling

Andrea has held marketing and strategic leadership positions for several of North America’s leading wineries over the past 30 years. She is currently the Chief Marketing Officer for WineDirect and enjoys using her experience to help their over 2000 winery clients develop and successfully run their direct-to-consumer sales operations. She has a deep love for the wine industry and especially enjoys helping wine companies find creative ways to maximize their results.

Ryan Williams

Ryan is currently the Western District Manager for HALL, WALT, and BACA wines covering Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and California. He was born in Oakland and began his career in catering and later went on to enroll in the wine program at the Professional Culinary Institute, then led by Master Sommelier David Glancy. After holding Assistant Wine Director and later Wine Director positions at Ana Mandara Restaurant in San Francisco, he transitioned to working at HALL Wines as a wine educator in 2013, eventually becoming California District Manager for wholesale before moving into his current position.

Tom Lynch

Tom is currently Director of the ARF Charitable Foundation’s diversity initiative for the market research and analytics industry. He has also worked for two wineries, a wine import company, and with multiple nonprofit organizations and social enterprises. Motivated by the saying “A society thrives when old men plant trees whose shade they will never enjoy,” he has committed the last part of his career to giving back and making a difference.

Tony Lawrence

Tony is also known as The Global Winechef. Based in Philadelphia, he creates unique wine dinners for corporate events, country clubs, destination vineyard events and private special occasions.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Widener University and interned as a chef in Germany. Tony is also a Pro-Chef graduate, as well as a Food & Wine Pairing Specialist from the CIA Greystone, Napa Valley. Tony has spent thirty-eight years as a professional wine judge, and uses his passion to create a blueprint for unique pairing events, focused on making food & wine pairing educational and truly memorable.

Laurie Lindrup

Laurie has spent more than 30 years in the hospitality industry. She received her Grande Diplôme from École de Cuisine LaVarenne, Pastry Certification from Cordon Bleu, and attended L’Académie du Vin in Paris, France. Since moving to California in 2010, she has held a variety of positions including Director of Special Events at the International Culinary Center in Campbell, Manager of The Wine Club in Santa Clara and San Francisco, and working at Beltramo’s in Menlo Park. She holds several wine certifications including Certified Sommelier, French Wine Scholar, and Certified Specialist of Wine. In her spare, time she is a trail runner and loves to cook. She is very passionate about food, wine, and education.

 

Emeritus Board Members

Peggy Cramer

Peggy was one of the founding board members of GWEF, and served as its Secretary for many years. In her encore career, Peggy works as a wine educator, most recently for Inglenook WIne Estate in the Napa Valley. She’s also taught wine classes for members of the St. Francis Yacht Club where she was a active member of the Wine Committee, as well as for San Francisco Giants Events. Peggy earned her Certified Specialist of Wine credential through the San Francisco Wine School. In 2021 she retired from her role as Vice President of Communications for Pacific Premier Bank. Currently living in Portugal, Peggy is learning as much as possible about their 250+ indigenous grape varieties.
